The BEHIND-MS is proud to announce the release of a new video that introduces the project’s objectives and groundbreaking research efforts. This five-year European research initiative, funded by EU Horizon and SERI, is focused on understanding the role of the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in the onset and progression of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Multiple Sclerosis
MS is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system and impacts more than 1.2 million people in Europe alone. The BEHIND-MS project, which stands for “Bridging EBV-Host ImbalaNce to Disease Onset and Progression in Multiple Sclerosis,” is dedicated to uncovering how EBV may contribute to triggering MS and finding ways to improve clinical evaluation, early diagnosis, and personalized treatment options.
The video
The video highlights the key research activities of the BEHIND-MS team, which include studying the immune system’s response to EBV, analysing patient and virus genes, and using cutting-edge technologies to explore how the virus interacts with neural cells. By focusing on these areas, the BEHIND-MS project aims to identify unique biomarkers for MS, which could revolutionise the way the disease is diagnosed and treated. Ultimately, this research could improve the quality of life for people living with MS by leading to earlier intervention and more personalized therapies.
Together, we are one step closer to unlocking the mystery of MS!
